Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob today said that former Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, 83, was well and resting at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian here.
Having visited the PAS spiritual leader at HUSM, where he was admitted on Monday, he said it was wrong for people to spread false news through the social media.
“Tok Guru has a family, so one must ask his family members first. News about him had all this while been disseminated fast, so to believe any news from dubious sources is not right,” he said in a statement to deny reports in the social media that Nik Aziz had died.
“Let’s all pray for the continued health of Tok Guru so that he can continue contributing ideas to develop the ummah.”
Nik Aziz, meanwhile, expressed hid sadness at the tragedy that hit MH17.
He also called for comprehensive investigations into the matter.
“From the HUSM ward here, I read about MH17, which was believed to have been shot down over Ukraine.
“I offer my condolences to the families of the victims,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the international community must play its role to press on the parties involved to spare civilians.
“If it’s true that the incident was an attack, it must be condemned and action taken.”
