PENAMPANG, July 10: A search is on for a man, in his 20s, after he stabbed a 19-year-old four times following a misunderstanding during a drinking session three days ago. The victim, a 19-year-old car mechanic, is currently warded at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, and his condition is reported to be critical but stable. District police chief Ratan Kumar Singh said initial investigation revealed that the duo were at a friend’s house in Kampung Kimoligan for a drinking session on July 7 at around 2.35pm when a misunderstanding broke out that subsequently led to a fight. “The victim sustained four stab wounds on his thighs, stomach and back,” Ratan said adding that the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital. The weapon used by the attacker, however, has yet to be found. Ratan said a manhunt had been launched to search for the suspect and urged anyone with information on the case to come forward to assist the investigations. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntary causing grievous hurt by using a dangerous weapon. The victim’s family members meanwhile posted pictures of the victim and the suspect, whom they identified as Kenolius Galidan, on Facebook and WhatsApp, appealing to those who spotted the man to immediately contact the police. In the postings, a family member disclosed that the suspect had stabbed his brother-in-law before fleeing.
