KOTA KINABALU, May 22, 2015: Contradicting views over the level of seditious crime between Malaysia and Britain leaves London-based activist, Doris Jones, a free woman It seems that extraditing the 46-year-old Sabahan born is impossible as Britain’s law does not recognise her ‘crime’ under its Sedition Act. A police officer, Inspector Mohd Shahrizan Yahaya, revealed this when asked during the question and answer session after his talk on Islamic militant and the SSKM (Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia) ideology threats at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), yesterday. “This means, she, who is identified as Yapp Kim Youn by Malaysian police, can only be arrested if she returns to the country.” According to Star Online, Sharizan also said the Interpol was ready to arrest Jones if she was involved in any other crimes that did not involve the Sedition Act, which has been abolished in Britain. http://www.therakyatpost.com/news/2015/05/22/doris-jones-is-safe-in-britain/

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia will not be able to extradite wanted Sabahan Doris Jones (pic), a London-based activist operating the Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia (SSKM) Facebook page as Britain laws do not recognise her ‘crime’ under Sedition Act. Insp. Mohd Shahrizan Yahaya said they can only arrest Jones, who is identified as Yapp Kim Youn by Malaysian police if she returns to the country. He also explained that the Interpol was ready to arrest Jones if she was involved in other crimes, except the Sedition Act which has been abolished in Britain. Insp. Shahrizan said this during a question and answer session after his talk on Islamic militant and the SSKM ideology threats at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) on Thursday. Meanwhile, he explained that fighting for 20-points and 18-point rights were different than asking for secession from the federation.
