Walking into this clinic to receive treatment for childrens’ heart disease must be like landing on a different planet. How did they even make a decision to join this program? Perhaps because they want their children to live. That already is a very big statement. For the Doctors and nurses and even a medical “clown”, these parents and children are no different than the Israeli parents and children who come for treatment. As one doctor says “Medicine is apolitical.” This is truly a new planet. An anthropological experience. View the social norms and values of the “Save a Child’s Heart” project society. It’s a lesson for us all.
